Sept. 1, 2011

In our Youth program we are seeing growth. We are at a point in our Youth program that we need to divide into a middle school group and a high school group for Sunday School purposes. Again we are able to do so because we have an growing number of teachers getting involved in our Youth Program.

We have had some other changes lately, too. When Justin Evatt chose recently to resign as youth mirector, our St. John’s Youth Action Team found we are more than able to cope. Thanks to the quick response of the members of our Staff Parish Relations Committee, we are able to announce that we now have a part-time interim youth minister who will work with the Youth Action Team to ensure that our Youth Program continues to grow stronger.

That person is our own Ms. Julie Lee, who has been part to our Youth Team here at St. John’s for many years.

Thank you, Julie, for being willing to help.

More about our regular activities ...

Sunday school: 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Activities Center with separate classes for high school and middle school that are great for learning and making friends.

Youth Choir: Sundays 5:00-5:45 p.m. and led by Gail Elrod. This is a great opportunity for students nterested in choral performance and using the gift of singing to glorify God.

Ignite (UMYF): Sundays 5:45-7:30 p.m. in the Activities Center. All students in grades 6-12 are invited to attend. We have a meal, fellowship, games, and devotion. It's a great time to build friendships, meet new people, and grow in your relationship with Christ.

Youth Bible Study: Wednesdays 6:15-7:00 p.m. in the Activities Center. This is great opportunity for youth to go further in their walk with God.

Confirmation: This is designed to prepare youth for full membership in the local congregation of the United Methodist Church. At the conclusion of the Confirmation Classes, youth can join or the church or graciously decline. Regardless, the journey and experience is always meaningful for the youth.

Trips & Events: Throughout the year, we have lots of great events in which you can participate: pool parties, dodge ball tournaments, summer mission trip, concerts, local missions, and more.
