Beginning in September, our 2nd through 5th graders started studying the Acts of the Apostles. Study continues Oct. 16 to Nov. 20, 2011 with Part Two: CARRY MY NAME! We always need new teachers, so check out our sign-up sheet below!

"Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel." - Acts 9:15

Please note

There will be no Children’s Activities on Wednesday, Nov. 23, or Children’s Sunday School or Children’s Church on Nov. 27 to allow for family Thanksgiving celebrations.

Teacher signup sheet

Click on the Teacher signup sheet link to see who is teaching upcoming Sunday School sessions. We will keep this spreadsheet up-to-date for as many months out as we can. If you know you are teaching or would like to sign up for a Sunday, type in your name and contact information along the appropriate date. If you're not sure what grade level you are teaching, contact Richard. We can always use helpers, too. The signup sheet will open up as a new page; it will save when you close the page.

TEACHERS' CURRICULUM

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Preschool: Our nursery begins with ages newborn to three years. Our preschool children are invited to come and hear stories about Jesus and the Bible. The lessons are interactive with hands-on learning styles. Your children will cherish our loving and caring teachers. Preschool classes are on the first floor in Rooms 144, 145.

Elementary: The third floor of the Education Building has been transformed into a beautiful garden environment with each room uniquely designed to share the Good News in a different way. We are guiding young imaginations and teach the Bible in ways kids can enjoy: through computers, theater, art, music, even cooking. For grades K4 through 5th grade Sunday School starts at 9:15 a.m. on the third floor of the Education Building.

Want to teach?

We have several teachers trained to work with elementary-age children. But we are always looking for new teachers and helpers, each with his or her own unique talents to share with these young people.

Teachers take on early-elementary and late-elementary classes on a rotating basis, teaching the children in the classroom that best suits their talents and lesson plans.

Our teachers come from a broad range of professional backgrounds. Some have an aptitude in music, drama and the visual arts as well. Wherever you are coming from, we will help you with lesson plans, also available online, and support you through on-the-job training in the classroom.

Contact Richard Brennan if you are interested. To sign up to help on a future Sunday, go to this link and add your full name and contact information.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH

A nursery for infants and toddlers is on the first floor of the Education Building. It is headed up by a professional child-care provider who provides pagers to parents. A greeter or an usher will be happy to direct you.

Children’s Worship Bulletins and crayons are also available on Sunday mornings at the sanctuary entrances. Included are Biblical word games, crossword puzzles and other activities. Children also are welcome to join their families when Holy Communion is celebrated.

Special activities for children ages 4 to 8 are provided during the 10:30 a.m. church service. Children are excused from the sanctuary after Rev. Dan Batson shares some words and a prayer with them. Children follow a teacher to the third floor of the Education Building:

Please contact Richard, Director of Christina Education for more information about our children's ministry at St. Johns.
