MUSIC
MINISTRY

St. John's is proud of its long tradition of opportunities for musicians of all ages. Adults are welcome to participate in the chancel and handbell choirs.

Friends in Christ, Room 408

This adult group studies contemporary life based on Biblical principles. Bring your opinions and plan to discuss. This class meets on the fourth floor in Room 405.  Leadership is provided by members of the class.  Fellowship is an important part of this class.

Koinonia Class, Room 318

This group of adults meets on the third floor in Room 318 and is dedicated to the study of the Bible. They use a variety of Biblically based curriculum as their primary teaching material and leadership is provided by class members. This class started in December 2007 and welcomes new members each week.

Harry Findley Class, Room 410

This class meets each week on the fourth floor in Room 410. This group of couples and singles has raised their children for the most part and use their time together to explore a variety of life-centered and spiritual topics. The leaders of this class come from a variety of backgrounds and bring their experiences to share with the class.  All are welcome.

John Wesley Class, Room 403

This class meets each week on the fourth floor in Room 403 and is made up of couples, singles and some singles again.  Many of the members have children in the local school system. The focus of the class is on Biblical issues and applying the Bible to our modern day situation. The class is led by a group of experienced teachers, many of whom are members of the class.

Mary O. Holler Bible Class, Room 230

Two of our most well-established classes have combined and meet each week in Room 230.  The members welcome you to join them in Bible study, mission projects, other interesting discussions and friendship.  They use the Adult Bible Study series, led by experienced teachers from the congregation.

Dick Ligon Class, Room 411

This class meets on the fourth floor in Room 411.  It is made up of men and women interested in an in-depth study of the books of the Bible.  The class is using a variety of materials in their Bible study.  The lessons are designed to help the class members better understand each book of the Bible. The class is taught by experienced Sunday School teachers from within the class.

Victor Caudle Class, Room 317

This class meets each week on the third floor in Room 317.  This class is made up of mature adult singles and couples. The class uses the International Sunday School Lessons curriculum. The class is taught by many experienced Church School teachers in the class membership.

Young Adults (Young Career)

College Students, Activities Center

Our college students are encouraged to stay plugged into the church by helping out in the youth ministry as small group leaders. It is also a great time for our university students to meet and fellowship together then go and hangout as a group afterwards. For more information, please contact Justin, our Youth Director.


ADULT BIBLE STUDIES

For anyone wanting to know more about the Scriptures, several Bible studies are offered in a group setting of supportive friends to help you learn and grow.  Depending on demand the following courses of study are available, with others added periodically:

Disciple (I, II, III, IV) Bible Studies
Christian Believers
Invitation to the New Testament

OLDER ADULT MINISTRY

The HAPPY GROUP offers a program of Christian fellowship, educational programs of special interest and guidance and travel.  The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at noon for lunch and a guest speaker in the Fellowship Hall.  They also take various interesting trips and experience various activities during the year.

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The United Methodist Women (UMW) is an organized unit whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.  The are six active circles who welcome women of all ages.

UNITED METHODIST MEN

United Methodist Men (UMM) meet every Wednesday morning at The Meeting Place. The Breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. and lasts about one hour.  Several dinner meetings with educational programs of special interest are also planned throughout the year.  Watch the Journal and St. John's Bulletin for scheduled events.
